A near-20-minute documentary titled The Road To Talk That Talk has been added to Rihanna‘s YouTube channel, but it has little to do with the making of Rihanna’s latest album, and focuses more on showing the “We Found Love” singer backstage in the last days of her Loud Tour last year. In fact, if you caught the final Loud gig in Boston in 2011, now you’ll understand why there was so much chaos and laughter on stage — RiRi and her dancers pulled naughty prank after prank on each other on their last day on the road together. At the end of the video, Rihanna takes a trip back home to Barbados in the clip, to visit with her mother and her aunt.
When Rihanna jets back to Barbados, she surprises her mother by dropping in at Fab-u-lus, the store she works at. However, RiRi finds she’s unable to persuade her mom to let her drive the her automobile. “My mommy won’t let me borrow the car,” the singer laments. “She doesn’t trust me, even thought she knows I’m a bad ass driver.”
As for Talk That Talk, we get a tiny glimpse of Rihanna’s recording process for the album, which was basically her laying down and reviewing the tracks while traveling from city to city for the Loud Tour. In hindsight, it probably wasn’t the best way to throw together an LP, given the rushed feel of some of the tracks, and the lack of a hit single, post-”We Found Love”.
