You Be The Judge: Kitty Pryde’s “Okay Cupid”

We come across new artists each and every day, but sometimes we’re undecided whether a particular act is worth making a fuss over. So we’re leaving it up to our readers whether we should keep tabs on a rising artist, or leave their tunes behind (or at least let them stew a bit longer before we give them another chance).

There have been more than a few new female rappers to emerge in the past year, and here comes one more: Teenage rapper Kitty Pryde hails from Daytona Beach, Florida, but she’s hoping to make a name for herself in the rest of the country. With the release of her EP The Lizzie McGuire Experience, and tracks like the attention-grabbing “Justin Bieber”, the redheaded MC (who gets her stage name from an X-Men character) is picking up steam. She’s been described as “Best Coast with ‘princess’ tattooed on her lips”, or as one Tweeter puts it, “the jail bait Hayley Williams of Rap”, though we hear some Lana Del Rey influence in her soporific flow.

Music bloggers might have their eye on Kitty, but we want you to be the judge. Watch her debut (and extremely DIY) video for her track “Okay Cupid”, then vote in our poll below to let us know if you want to keep seeing this Kitty ’round these parts.

Tell us – is Kitty Pryde worth keeping an eye on?
