Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used To Know” Makes History, Tops Three Charts At Once

You might be so over Gotye‘s “Somebody That I Used To Know”, but the singer’s smash single with Kimbra is only getting more popular. “Somebody” has become the first song to hit #1 on the Hot 100, the Alternative chart and the Dance/Club charts simultaneously. The Belgium-born Australian artist can thank the electronic genre’s various remixes of his bitter breakup tune, such as this one by Tiesto, for helping it become a hit on the dance charts. More cause for celebration: not only is the song topping the Alternative charts, “Somebody” is now the longest-reigning #1 single by a soloist in the chart’s 23-year history. Looks like all that heartache was worth it! [Via Billboard]
