Kanye West Releasing Compilation, Film ‘Cruel Summer’

Now we finally know what that 30-minute film made by Kanye West is called: Cruel Summer. Of course, given that the short flick is set to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival next week (on May 24), and by April 25 West (who is writing, directing, producing and scoring) had yet to start any work on the thing, he might have called it Cruel Spring. Regardless, if you’re at the fest this year, you can RSVP here to catch ‘Ye’s foray into cinema.

Meanwhile, Rap Radar notes that West’s upcoming G.O.O.D. Music compilation is also called Cruel Summer, and the film is inspired by the tunes on it.

Last month it was reported that the film was being described as a thriller, and his G.O.O.D. Music family member Kid Cudi was said to have a role in it. Should we also expect a cameo from Kanye’s recent recording partner Justin Bieber? Or — gulp — Kim Kardashian?

Really, we’re just wondering if the whole shebang has anything to do with this:
