Today calls for a celebration — no, not because it’s Memorial Day — it’s Kylie Minogue‘s 44th birthday. Yes, we said 44. We find it pretty hard to believe ourselves, since the Aussie Aphrodite seems to have stopped aging well over a decade ago. While time has certainly been good to the “Timebomb” siren, fashion hasn’t always been as forgiving.
Before Kylie was strutting her stuff in denim cutoffs and fishnets, she first had to circumvent the questionable (in hindsight, of course) styles of the ’80s, ’90s and ’00s, both on stage and on camera. Impressively enough, no matter how awful the era’s fashion, the diva managed to make it look good — even when it came to knee-length mom jeans! Kylie herself acknowledged her continual reinvention, transitioning from girl next door, to sex goddess, dance star, indie-rock queen (for a split second in the mid-’90s) and now as a flawless and timeless diva. And so, to honor Kylie Minogue on her special day, we’re taking a look back at the pop icon’s sexy style evolution.
