Ciara is readying her fifth studio album, One Woman Army, and the former Jive artist is hoping that L.A. Reid and Epic can help her turn out a hit after the disappointment of 2010’s Basic Instinct. The singer has described her new LP as her most “vulnerable” album yet, though it will still have a few dance-ready bangers on it — one of them being the just-released “Sweat”, featuring ubiquitous rapper 2 Chainz. The worst part of this bass-heavy tune is that it’s just not very exciting. Ciara’s vocals go nowhere, the beat doesn’t pick up or drop off or twist or turn unexpectedly, and the repetitive lyrics are your generic sexy-dancefloor bon mots.
The song is available on iTunes June 19. Let’s hope One Woman Army has some more inspiring cuts on it, because we don’t see “Sweat” being the smash Ciara needs to make any sort of comeback.
