Better Than Obama? “Call Me Maybe” X Calvin Harris

You’ve heard this song “Call Me Maybe”, yes? (Probably, since it’s #2 on the Billboard Hot 100). But you’ve never heard it quite like this: producer Chi Duly has crafted a remix that fuses Carly Rae Jepsen’s summery jam with the bouncy tracks crafted by hitmaker Calvin Harris (“Rihanna’s “We Found Love” and his own “Feel So Close”). Did Chi out-clever President Obama (or his supercut-editor-in-chief) and everyone on YouTube? Listen to, and download, “Call Me Calvin” below.

Harris’ bouncy beats certainly suit Carly’s vocals, though there’s something to be said about the sweetness of the original’s swelling strings. (At this point, there are enough “Call Me Maybe” remixes, covers and tributes to please everyone across the genre rainbow, right? You’ve heard the jazz version, right?)

Chi Duly is known best, perhaps, for his remixes of The Weeknd (Balloons Of Haus) and for developing an entire album of Drake/Coldplay mixes (October’s Very Cold). We wouldn’t mind hearing him take on all the year’s best pop songs DJ Earworm style.
