R. Kelly is going for a 50s Motown/rock-n-roll vibe for his newest album Write Me Back (out June 26) — hey, we can’t blame him for going back to a simpler, less taxing era. Going retro is a similar move to what Cee Lo Green did with The Lady Killer, though Kells only seems to be evoking the past, not building something new with it. His recently surfaced track “All Rounds On Me” is jumpin’ enough to have been covered by Marty McFly at the Enchantment Under The Sea dance, and “Party Jumpin’” could easily be off the Hairspray soundtrack. But neither tune really becomes anything other than an experimentation with genre.

If you love to swing or sweat to the oldies, listen to both songs below and judge for yourself.
