Pet Shop Boys aren’t due to premiere “Winner”, the first single from the pop vets’ new album Elysium, until next week. But a short snippet of the tune has made its way online, and, surprisingly, it sounds as if the British duo have opted to skip the dance floor and went for more of an uplifting synth ballad sound with their lead offering from the upcoming LP. Still, if this 30-second preview does anything, it proves that the Andrew Dawson-produced track is undeniably Pet Shop Boys. (Yes, we’re using that as an adjective.) Hear it below.
“Let the ride just take us, side-by-side, and make us see the world through new eyes every day / you’re a winner, I’m a winner, this is all happening so fast,” Neil Tennant sings on “Winner”. Could the Boys have coyly timed the release of their new single (it’s on iTunes next week) to coincide with the Summer Olympics in London?
Pet Shop Boys are also expected to announce the worldwide release dates for Elysium at some point next week.

I’m a huge fan of the PSB but wasn’t expecting anything from this new single but wow this is awesome. Cant wait till its released. Will it be a chart winner??

Concordo com a jujulespsb. Os PET SHOP BOYS são a maior banda do mundo em todos os tempos. É Inacreditável que alguém venha comentar pixando este grupo maravilhoso de coração enorme, de sensibilidade acima do normal. Só quem não entende nada de música, como trabalhar uma canção, etc, pode deixar de elogiá-los. Eles são perfeccionistas, cada detalhe tem fundamental importância e como sempre digo: “Grito de gol do Brasil na turne Pandemonium pelo mundo todo, CD feito no Brasil no ritmo Olodum, música em homenagem ao brasileiro Jean Charles de Menezes, morto pela policia londrina “confundindo-o” com um terrorista, e agora o vídeo leva uma bandeira do Brasil subindo ao pódio!!” Muitas bandas nacionais não tem metade do carinho e o respeito que eles tem pelo Brasil!!! Show PET SHOP BOYS!!!!! Nada é, foi ou será maior que os PET SHOP BOYS!!!! A banda internacional mais brasileira do Mundo!!!!!
