Rock Of Ages star Tom Cruise is the subject of some rather un-rockin’ news today (and we’re not talking about said movie’s box office receipts): he and Katie Holmes are heading for divorce, and, according to TMZ, it was the latter who put the wheels in motion for the split. But aside from that, there’s at least some bright news for Cruise on the horizon, as his upcoming sci fi film Oblivion will come complete with a score by “Midnight City” whiz M83 (aka Anthony Gonzalez). And the film’s director, Joseph Kosinski (pictured above right, beside Gonzalez), is certainly no stranger to working with French electronic acts — he previously lensed Tron: Legacy, which was accompanied by Daft Punk‘s well-received score.

“I like challenges, and it excites me more than frightens me,” Gonzalez told Indiewire’s The Playlist. “I can’t wait to hear my music played by amazing musicians and an orchestra and brass and maybe choirs. It’s a chance to create something big and I’m ready for it.” [Via Rolling Stone]
