Pitbull To Be Sent To Alaska Thanks To Internet Pranksters

Pitbull better pack his parka. After an Internet jokesters (Something Awful‘s David Thorpe and Jon Hendren) decided it would be funny to start a campaign to send the party MC to the most remote Walmart in the world (as part of a promotional stunt for Sheets-brand energy strips and Walmart), Mr. Worldwide is officially being sent to Kodiak, Alaska to perform at the retail store.

After the store received 70,000 “likes” on Facebook, the “Back In Time” artist has announced that the Kodiak Walmart location has been officially chosen. And, generous man he is, he’s extending an invitation to Thorpe and Hendren to join him for the ride. “Good news: I’ll definitely go to Alaska with @Pitbull,” tweeted Thorpe. “Bad news: I’ve been trying to grow a beard in preparation and it’s NOT going well.” He also added: “Is anyone else detecting a vague undercurrent of menace in the Pitbull video? I am almost definitely getting killed in Kodiak.”

The duo’s efforts to ship Pitbull to a frozen tundra were countered by the residents of MC’s home state of Florida, who launched their own campaign, #KeepPitbull305, to have him perform at the Hialeah, Florida store instead. Unfortunately, they were only able to score 1,000 Facebook “likes”, 69,000 “likes” below the necessary amount to keep the artist in warm weather. Sorry, actual Pitbull fans!
