Alicia Keys’ “New Day” Lyric Video: Hands Up And On The Spray Paint

The lyric video for the solo Alicia Keys version of “New Day” (not that one with 50 Cent, Alicia and Dr. Dre we found about last week) has premiered, and the celebratory track gets quite the arty treatment. A hooded figure uses spray paint to graffiti-up the walls of New York City with the upbeat lyrics. A fingerless-gloved hand also scrawls Keys’ words into a sketch book with various colored Sharpies. Party people say this is one of the more interesting treatments for a lyric vid in recent months.

Last month Alicia described herself as “a whole new person” while noting the following in a special video message to her fans: “Everything is new, from being married and having a baby, and what that’s done for me in just giving me a sense of real stability, real connection, grounding, reason, and purpose.”

One would guess, given the effort put into this clip, that the Swizz Beat-produced “New Day” is meant to serve as the first single off the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter’s upcoming fifth studio album.
