Madonna Blames Paris Olympia Show Controversy On “A Few Thugs”

Those boos that were broadcast to the entire world last Thursday when Madonna exited the stage at Paris’ Olympia after 45 minutes? Turns out they weren’t coming from fans, says the Material Girl, but rather a “few thugs” who “rushed the stage.” Days after her own publicist, Liz Rosenberg, explained why Madge’s gig only lasted 45 minutes (it was never intended to be a full-on concert, a la the regular dates on her current MDNA Tour), the pop queen herself posted a statement on her official website. Catch it below.

Madonna penned the following on her site:

“Playing the Olympia was a magical moment for me and it was real treat to do this special show for my fans and be so close to them. Unfortunately at the end of the show – after I left the stage – a few thugs who were not my fans rushed the stage and started throwing plastic bottles pretending to be angry fans. The press reports have focused on this and not the joyous aspect of the evening. But nothing can take away or ruin this very special evening for me and my fans. When I looked out in the audience, everyone I saw had a smile on their face. I look forward to having this wonderful experience again.”

Given that tickets were going for around $100 for the Olympia show, it had been reported that several Madge fans — er, make that thugs — were asking for a refund. But then again, that’s quite a steal, considering top-dollar tickets for her MDNA dates go for about $380!
