Pet Shop Boys Elysium 2012 Winner promo shot Los Angeles window

“Winner”, the lead single from Pet Shop Boys‘ upcoming album Elysium (out September 11), is officially released this week as a digital EP that contains three B-sides: “A Certain Je Ne Sais Quoi”, “The Way Through The Woods” and “I Started A Joke”. Vocalist Neil Tennant told PopJustice that “A Certain Je Ne Sais Quoi” was originally penned in 2007 with Kylie Minogue in mind, but the duo decided to keep the song for themselves.

Meanwhile, the UK pop legends’ official site noted last month that “I Started A Joke”, a Bee Gees cover, was recorded as a tribute to Robin Gibb, who passed away in May following a struggle with cancer. Hear all three additional tunes from the “Winner” EP (out in the US tomorrow on iTunes) below.
