If Taylor Swift sounds like she’s shedding her country-pop sheen for a glossy pop shine with lead Red single “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together”, that’s because hit king producer Max Martin twiddled the knobs on the tune. And even on the single’s cover art, Tay looks more like a chic Vogue cover model — which she actually was, a few months back — than a guitar-twangin’ gal wandering around on the prairie.

So what does Swift’s latest in a long line of breakup songs sound like? Head below, pop fanatics, and give it a spin!

Taylor Swift — “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together”

One would assume that Taylor has, by now, gotten all the songs about exes like Taylor Lautner, John Mayer, Joe Jonas and Jake Gyllenhaal out of her system by now. So we’re not even going to bother speculating on who this one is about. (Maybe you can figure it out by combing through her words at Direct Lyrics?)

All we can really say that “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” is Swift’s most pop-leaning single to date, and we’re more than curious to see how the professional awards collector’s country fan base reacts to hearing her voice filtered through such slick machinery while a slight dance beat lumbers throughout the track.
