Pet Shop Boys’ ‘Elysium’ Single “Leaving”: Watch The Lyric Video

One reason why we chose Pet Shop Boys‘ upcoming 11th studio album Elysium (out September 11) as one of our 12 Most Anticipated Fall Albums is opening track “Leaving”, a wistful, lush offering, co-produced by the UK duo and Grammy winner Andrew Dawson in Los Angeles. The song deals with death, with regards to both loved ones and relationships. And yet somehow the tone is both melancholy and upbeat — so no surprise, then, that at one point the new album was going to be called HappySad. “Leaving” also makes for a perfect fall single. (The Boys thought so, too, and it’s now slated for a release, with remixes and B-sides, in mid-October.)

As was revealed in a new video interview conducted by The Huffington Post, “Leaving” was one of the first tracks Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe penned for Elysium. Watch the lyric video for the tune above, and catch their HuffPo chat after the jump.
