Pet Shop Boys ‘Elysium’: Sample All The Tracks

Early this year, UK pop duo Pet Shop Boys flew to America to record their new LP — a first for them — with producer Andrew Dawson. The sessions took place in Los Angeles, and Dawson told us the following in the spring: “They wanted to be around that thing, and get that classic L.A. sound — the L.A. players and all that stuff.”

The result is Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe‘s 11th studio LP, the lush Elysium (out Tuesday, September 11). It’s an album that finds the Boys treading somewhere in between upbeat material and more somber, complex tunes — a skill they acquired long ago. (It’s worth pointing out that Neil and Chris noted that several tracks feature backing vocals by singer/songwriter James Fauntleroy and veteran singers Oren, Maxine and Julie Waters, whose career spans sessions with The Jackson Five to Adele.) We’ve already heard the album track “Invisible”, as well as singles “Winner” and “Leaving”. Now the duo have offered up a YouTube clip with samples of all 12 Elysium songs. Get an early listen above.
