Matchbox Twenty land their first #1 LP on the Billboard Top 200 with comeback album North, which sold 95,000 copies out of the gate. The Rob Thomas-fronted band’s latest set features their first new material since 2007’s Exile On Mainstream, a combo of past hits and fresh tunes. Chalk up M20’s latest success to North‘s current Top 40 single “She’s So Mean”, which the band performed live on the Late Show last week.

Elsewhere, indie rockers Imagine Dragons land a solid #2 debut with their Alex Da Kid-produced Interscope album It’s Time (83,000). “Since I’ve started working with them, I think it was understood that we would take everything to the next level – from marketing to incorporating different musical influences for a bigger sound,” Alex recently told us.

Rounding out this week’s new players in the Top 10: Christian hip hopper Lecrae, whose sixth LP Gravity enters the Top 200 at #3 (72,000), and Cat Power with Sun (23,000) at #10.
