Usher‘s interview with Oprah aired Sunday (Sep. 16) on Oprah’s Next Chapter and the singer for the first (and last) time publicly discussed his troubled marriage and ensuing custody battle with ex-wife Tameka Foster. Why the sudden decision to sit down with O, apparently after rebuffing her interview offers for years? In light of the media firestorm, Ursh wanted to get his side of the story out, so that his sons could someday see he’s “been a man of integrity throughout the entire process.” Watch the full interview up top.
Oprah, to her credit, didn’t toss many softballs. She directly asked if he cheated on Tameka, to which Usher admitted, “When we were separated, yes.” Other nuggets include the fact that he spent a million dollars (!) on the wedding even though he wasn’t even sure he wanted to get married, and that he claims Tameka “made us enemies in a way that I could never understand.”
