One hundred high-roller guests attended a fundraiser for President Barack Obama Tuesday night (September 19) hosted by Jay-Z and Beyonce. The event was held at Jay’s 40/40 Club in Manhattan, and at $40,000 per ticket, it raised $4 million for the president’s coffers. Beyonce told the attendees that she and her husband “believe in [Obama’s] vision” and the president spoke briefly, thanking “J and B” for their friendship, and lavishing praise on Bey.

“Beyonce couldn’t be a better role model for our daughters because she carries herself with such class and poise and has so much talent,” the president said. He also joked that he and Jay-Z are similar: “We both have daughters and our wives are more popular than we are. So, you know, we’ve got a little bond there.”
