Lana Del Rey took the subdued charm of ’50s classic “Blue Velvet” and made it drip with gloomy melodrama, which is sort of her thing. Penguin Prison quickly remixed LDR’s melancholy take and turned it into a politely pulsating electro-pop dancer, which is sort of his thing. Hear it after the jump.

This isn’t the first time Penguin Prison’s Chris Glover has stepped in to add his neo-disco flair to a blue (in spirit and name) Lana joint: this spring he remixedBlue Jeans” and it was one of those rare remixes that sticks with you after the initial novelty wears off. We’re not sure he achieved such heights with this one, though. It’s a solid foundation, but where did all Lana’s vocals go?

Do you think these two need to hit the studio together? Tell us in the comments below, or on Facebook and Twitter.

  1. No.

To be honest, I don’t like 99.9% of remixes for artists that don’t make electronic types of music.
