Britney Spears isn’t generally known for her vocal prowess, but she delivered an unexpectedly lovely a cappella rendition of “Happy Birthday” on Wednesday night’s episode of The X Factor. Surprising L.A. Reid in the judges’ green room with a cake lit up with candles, the pop star sounded a little shaky at first, but delivered a few satisfying vocal runs. For his part, L.A. looked delighted — maybe because Britney Spears just sang him happy birthday. Or because he just loves cake.
As noted here notes, the clip apparently marks the first time that Spears has been heard singing a cappella since her 2005 reality show Chaotic. The clip also makes this the first time we’ve ever had so many mixed feelings about someone singing “Happy Birthday.”

Wow, I’ve always loved her voice. It’s such a letdown that they smother it in autotune (not that I don’t love her songs, I just haven’t heard that voice in a while).

hmmm….that’s rather interesting. I have always been a big fan of Britney’s and she seems to be cleaning up her act and personal life recently. She’s been through a lot and she got into the music and entertainment industry at such a young age. I was really shocked to hear how much she hates Demi Lovato! britney needs to make a toned- down album.. somehting on the vein of her “He about to lose me” song
