Nelly Furtado is coming back with her fifth studio album, which she describes as a “friendly punch in the face.” We’re not entirely sold on that description as an appealing one — a punch is still a punch and it hurts! But given rousing singles like “Parking Lot,” we’re willing to go along for the ride.

“The themes are quite positive, quite spiritual, and very uplifting,” Furtado says of The Spirit Indestructible in her WalMart SoundCheck interview. “It has a real adrenaline and energy to it, and excitement, there’s a rawness to it.” Based on what we’ve heard thus far, we have to agree.
