Aside from hit after hit, Jay-Z debuted a new verse while kicking off his eight-night, sold-out residency in New York. “Either way I’m gonna serve ya, shooters on my team / No really, I got shooters on my team!” he said, nodding to Nicki Minaj‘s awe-inspired verse about meeting Vogue‘s Anna Wintour and shouting out to his own Brooklyn Nets. (He was even wearing the basketball team’s new jersey.)

Jay-Z’s Friday night performance at the marked the grand opening of Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, a 19,000-capacity arena and the Brooklyn Nets’ new home. “I ain’t no motherfucking different than anybody in here tonight,” he said to the crowd. “I’m standing on this stage, as living proof that if you apply yourself to what it is that you’re a genius at … you can do anything in the world.” Listen to Hov’s new verse after the jump.
