Nas has already showcased some of his work with the late, great Amy Winehouse — their collaboration “Like Smoke,” taken from her posthumous collection Lioness: Hidden Treasures, debuted late last year, and his album Life Is Good contains the duet “Cherry Wine.” Now, that song’s moment in the spotlight gets extended via its music video.

The jazzy, elegant track, produced by Winehouse’s frequent collaborator Salaam Remi (who also helmed “Like Smoke”), features polished vocals from Winehouse, who appears in the video while projected against a brick wall at a lounge in a sweet but eerie homage. Nas plays the role of a bartender distracted by the attentions of a beautiful woman. We can’t help but feel the projection is a smart way to include Winehouse in the video, and it’s certainly more tasteful than a hologram

Nas had the following to say to NME about the collaboration: “Yeah, Salaam worked on her last album, and they were working. We don’t even have an explanation for how it happened. It was just magic. It just happened. It was supposed to happen. She made it happen.”
