Taylor Swift’s “I Knew You Were Trouble”: Preview Her New Song

The release of Taylor Swift‘s new album is fast approaching, and with a tracklist set, several songs already debuted and another video (for “Begin Again”) on the way, the Red era is taking shape. But while previewing a third new track, “I Knew You Were Trouble,” earlier today (October 8) on Good Morning America, Swift steered the direction back from her country roots (as heard on “Red”) and toward a very contemporary sound: “Trouble” is tense electropop that leads into a dubstep break. (The bit actually sounds relatively muted in the short preview, but we’re guessing the full version will pack more bass.)

“It’s a song that’s one of my favorites on the album because it sounds just as chaotic as the feeling was when I wrote it,” Swift explained. “It’s a song about, kind of, being frustrated with yourself because here you are, heartbroken, and you knew when you first saw that person — you saw all these red flags and you just went for it anyway.” Hear the preview above.
