Kanye West’s “White Dress”: Hear The Full Song

When we heard a snippet of Kanye West‘s new song “White Dress,” we noticed it was a throwback to the days when his songs were less grandiose, when they grew out from warped soul hooks and introspective-for-a-rapper lyrics. That vibe is intact for the entire song, and while it’s simpler than anything on Cruel Summer, it’s also more impressive due to the fact that it’s essentially one long, cascading verse. The track premiered today (October 12) via a globe-trotting video montage, which you can watch up top.

Whether or not Kim Kardashian was Ye’s muse for this cut, it features some of his most heartfelt lyrics since 808s & Heartbreak. But of course, he also throws in references to Kurt Cobain, Dolce & Gabbana, as well as this slice of lyrical gymnastics: “Rented the whole bottom floor for a candlelight dinner / Turn the lights out and put my candle right in her.” Oh that Yeezy, such a romantic.

Produced by RZA and Kanye, “White Dress” is from RZA’s film The Man With The Iron Fists and the soundtrack is out October 23.
