When it comes to politics, Jay-Z already put his money where his mouth is, raising $4 million for President Obama‘s reelection campaign at a dinner he hosted with wife Beyonce. But with the election nearing, he’s still using his clout to drum up votes for the president, appearing in the above Obama campaign video.
In the lengthy ad, Jay-Z zeroes in on hope and how he thinks seeing Obama rise to the presidency inspired the nation’s kids. But it wasn’t a one-sided love-fest: there’s footage of Obama’s pre-taped message from the Made In America Festival, in which Mr. President touts Mr. Hova’s rise. “He got ahead because he worked hard, learned from his mistakes and just plain refused to quit,” the president says.

Hope
Hope is held hostage by Fear
who fears the last of what is held dear
will disappear
if Hope dares to rear
its head
and stand instead
of laying low
staying slow
slowly dying
Hope crying from the basement of our hearts
too smart
to ever be fully silenced
silently sending a quiver through our bones
as Hope hones
a path back to the head
surging now, dispelling dread
Fear fading, no longer fed
Hope triumphant
Fear dead
Free
Free at last.
