It’s been quite a bottle-popping year for alt-pop trio fun., who managed to both top the Hot 100 for over a month with Janelle Monae-assisted smash “We Are Young” and escape one-hit wonder status thanks to follow-up single “Some Nights.” Decked out in a tan trench coat, Nate Ruess and his bandmates hit up Saturday Night Live on November 3 to give what came off as quite a caffeinated, triumphant performance the latter tune.
Truth be told, Ruess seemed like a man possessed (with the spirit of song?) while belting out “Some Nights.” Did you dig fun.’s SNL gig? Watch above (and catch them doing “Carry On” below) and let us know.
Fun. — ”Carry On” on Saturday Night Live

Yes enjoyed Nate’s Some Nights performance. As you suggested, he seemed very, ahem, “caffeinated.” Wonder what the scoop is there? Also, what was up with the trench coat, sloppy pants, and goodwill shirt? Kind of looks like he raided his grandfathers wardrobe closet from multiple bygone decades…
That’s how Nate performs. Have you never seen a Format or Fun show before? This is not out of the ordinary. His energy is just part of the package that makes him amazing and their shows so much fun to attend.
yeah, I totally agree with Rachel. that is just how Nate performs, which I think is pretty awesome. I thought they did great as well.
Lived his energy but he seemed a little too energized to hit his high notes in tune
Does no one else hear the off key beginning?
