Britney Spears Lawsuit Thrown Out

A Los Angeles judge has dismissed claims brought against Britney Spears and her parents by Spears’ former confidant and quasi-manager Sam Lufti, according to the AP. Lufti brought allegations of defamation, assault and breach of contract and was seeking 15% of Spears’ income from the time he claims to have been managing her in 2007-08. He alleged that Brit’s father Jamie punched him in 2008, and that Spears’ mother libeled him in her 2008 book Through The Storm. The lawsuit was tossed out on Thursday (November 1), though, when Judge Suzanne Bruguera ruled that Lufti failed to present enough evidence to bring the case to trial.

Lufti was present for much of Britney’s public meltdown five years ago, which culminated with Spears being placed under court-ordered conservatorship in 2008. Thus, lurid claims about her drug use at the time surfaced during this lawsuit, including Lufti’s accusation that the singer shaved her head as a ploy to get out of a drug test. Now that this case is behind us, can we go back to admiring Blackout?
