Nicki Minaj‘s Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded — The Re-Up drops next week, and there’s more than a few smashes rounding out the tracklist of the LP. But still, the pathologically insecure and overachieving rapstress (we’re not being mean — it’s pretty obvious from watching My Truth that’s exactly what she is) won’t be satisfied until every track on her album is a single — and “High School” is pretty singleworthy, as these things go.
The production is sharp and dramatic, her rapping is crisp and clear without being cluttered by aggression or histrionics or zany characters, and Lil Wayne‘s guest verse is witty and welcome — in fact, we haven’t enjoyed a Minaj rap song this much in a minute. Maybe her perfectionism really does pay off. Listen below.
