Taylor Swift’s “I Knew You Were Trouble” Video: Watch Her Lose Herself

Taylor Swift has been teasing her video for “I Knew You Were Trouble” all week (with a little viral help from Selena Gomez, natch), and now the full clip has premiered. As promised, it documents a dramatic fall from grace for Swift (or the character she’s playing, at least, since it’s a widely known fact that she’s basically perfect). It begins with a Hangover-style scene, Taylor waking up in a desert with remnants of last night’s party strewn about. Swift’s voiceover says, “I think when it’s all over, it just comes back in flashes…It all comes back, but he never does.”

We get two minutes of ominous sounds and voiceovers before the chipper opening riff kicks in. It’s an intense video for a dramatic song, and the Anthony Mandler-directed clip is equal parts Lana Del Rey‘s “Ride” and Rihanna‘s “Diamonds” — which makes sense since Mandler helmed those videos, too. Watch it up top.
