What’s better than Wham!‘s Yuletide classic “Last Christmas”? Covers of “Last Christmas”!

Yes, the oft-covered holiday classic, which documents the cruel emotional tragedy of someone regifting a heart (a heart! Who would do such a thing?), is probably the only modern Christmas standard from the last thirty years, besides Mariah Carey‘s unbeatable “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” and arbiters of fine sonic taste/minimalist alt-pop outfit The xx stopped by BBC Radio 1′s Live Lounge to cover the tune. Trading the spunky synths of the original for an appropriately downtrodden rendition, it’s our favorite version of the tune — this year. Merry Christmas, misery addicts! Listen below.
