Boy wonder/singing coiffure masterpiece Justin Bieber recently lent his retina-searing star wattage to some commercials for Macy’s, which is very cute, right? But not as cute as the Biebs making all kinds of goofy foibles on camera! A just-released bloopers reel shows some of the behind-the-scenes gaffes that went down, all of which were clearly rehearsed and created specifically for this moment except for one genuinely telling moment, about 18 seconds in, where Bieber calls out an actor for smiling and making “sex eyes” at him.
Which is funny, but also awkward, and a little sad, perhaps haunted by some unspoken desire, some curious discomfort, some can’t-put-your-finger-on-it-feeling between the two of them that transcended space and time. Or maybe it’s just Bieber being goofy, who knows. Watch up top.
