Mark your calendars, Fighters. Comically self-serious vocal powerhouse Christina Aguilera is set to receive a very special honor at the 2013 People’s Choice Awards: Something called the “People’s Voice Award,” which honors her “outstanding achievements in the music industry” and “her ability to reach millions of fans both at home and abroad, across pop, soul, and R&B genres.” If they were truly committed to honoring her, they would call the ceremony the 2013 Lotus Choice Awards, but hey, you gotta take what you can get, right?
The show will also feature a performance from Legendtina, since she — as an executive producer announced — “lights up literally every stage she steps onto.” Again, a savvier statement would have promised to “make the world move,” but at least there’s some quotient of true music lovers present on the People’s Choice Awards committee. Catch the show when it airs on January 13.

Sam Lansky, I enjoy visiting Idolator.com but over the past several months, I noticed a pattern in blogs/”articles” posted about Christina Aguilera written by you. At first I just I thought he/she is just doing his/her job, but it honestly cannot be your job to constantly write blog entries/”articles” that seems mean spirited (maybe I don’t get your sarcasm) just because she made a comment you don’t like/approve of.
Your post reminds me of what Perez Hilton did… I used to enjoy visiting his site, but he was on the “GaGa” juice and was on a mission to ruin Christina. I had to stop visiting his site and I honestly don’t want that to be the case with my beloved idolator.com.
I’m not one of the “fighters” or the overly nutty Christina fan. I like music and appreciate music. I’d like to believe you do too. I hope the next Christina post by you is written objectively.
Sincerely
Seanzy.
I love how Idolator writes about Christina. Hilarious.
You have to be relevant first to receive an award.
And next year it’s gonna be Shakira that will steal what glimmer of glitter eyeshadow has left of her career.
Honestly in about 15 years I expect her to be like our version of Cher or Dolly. Interesting, gay friendly but honestly just lousy and gimmicky.
Oh my GOD!
Xtina you are the best XOXO.
If you honestly think that Dolly Parton is lousy, then I don’t think I can trust your judgment, tbh. Gimmicky? Yep. Lousy? Not on a bad day. People should wish to be as lousy as that uber-talented woman.
Shakira who? she’s had over 15 years in the music industry and she’s no where near an icon.
Normally I don’t learn post on blogs, however I would like to say that this write-up very pressured me to try and do it! Your writing style has been surprised me. Thank you, very nice post.
