As Christina Perri explained it on the Today Show this morning, she’s a self-proclaimed “Christmas nerd.” To be honest, given her output of downtrodden tunes, we wouldn’t have pegged Christina as the holly, jolly type. But it does make sense, given her recently released EP A Very Merry Perri Christmas.
“I’ve been listening to Christmas music my whole life,” Perri said before her performance of “Something About December” on Today. “It was actually the first song I ever remember singing as a kid. My mom would dress my brother and I up in matching outfits and we’d perform Christmas carols for the family.”
