Christmas came a little early for Frank Ocean fans Saturday night when the singer finally decided to share the song he wrote and recorded for the film Djancho Unchained, which ended up not making the final cut of the soundtrack. “django was ill without it,” Ocean wrote on his popular Tumblr page, along with the song.
Despite passing it up, director Quentin Tarantino recently called the unused track a “fantastic ballad that was truly lovely and poetic in every way.” Because of that and because — hey, it’s Frank Ocean — we’ve been not-so-patiently waiting to hear it, and it comes as no surprise to find that “Wise Man” is solemn and stunning.
