Remember when Lupe Fiasco said he was retiring and returning to his first love — “literature”? (Us too, Lupe!) Well, it looks like he’s trying to eke a little more success out of his last album before he goes on to threaten John Updike‘s throne, since the rapper took to Late Night With Jimmy Fallon to perform the radio-friendly single “Battle Scars” alongside his hook-man Guy Sebastian.
Since this was a Fallon performance, Fiasco was supported by The Roots, who provided a solid instrumental backing injected with some spunky (dare we say “rootsy”?) flavor. No surprise, then, that it felt like Fiasco’s most likable performance in a minute. Watch up top.
