Razzie Nominations: Rihanna’s ‘Battleship’ Singled Out As A Top Flop
So, 2012’s Battleship wasn’t exactly Citizen Kane. Hell, it wasn’t even Citizen Ruth. In fact, the Rihanna-featuring flop sunk so deep that it was met the ultimate Hollywood diss on Tuesday (January 8) evening: seven Golden Raspberry nominations — including Worst Picture, Worst Director (Peter Berg), Worst Screen Ensemble, Worst Screenplay, Worst Supporting Actor (Liam Neeson) and, yes, Worst Supporting Actress (Rihanna). Better make room next to those Grammys and MTV Video Music Awards, RiRi!
The only two movies to receive more Razzie nods than Battleship are low-rent Adam Sandler/Andy Samberg comedy That’s My Boy (with eight nominations) and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part II (a whopping 12). Fingers crossed for a Rihanna triumph when the chintzy awards are handed out on February 23rd. [THR]
