Well, Beyonce looks pretty good, doesn’t she? When a human person looks like this, it’s very hard to focus on anything else!

But we’re going to have to try, because the Queen Bey also sat down with GQ for an interview that’s revealing in that not-revealing-at-all way — a story that’s as much about how tightly controlled her camp is as the limited information that was actually released — but hey! There’s still some new details about new music, and you can’t argue with that. Primarily, the dish is this: She’s also recorded about fifty songs (ugh, that work ethic), and she’s been working with PharrellTimbalandJustin Timberlake and The-Dream.

As for the sound of the upcoming LP, she explains: “We all started in the ’90s, when R&B was the most important genre, and we all kind of want that back: the feeling that music gave us.”

Her influences, then, aren’t just ’90s R&B, but some older stuff too: “Mostly R&B,” she said. “I always have my Prince and rock/soul influences. There’s a bit of D’Angelo, some ’60s doo-wop. And Aretha [Franklin] and Diana Ross.”

Cross your fingers that we get to sample the fruits of her labors sooner rather than later.
