We’re not exactly sure how AXE got Kendrick Lamar, Buzz Aldrin and a bunch of dancing astronauts together for an event at New York’s Hayden Planetarium on Wednesday night (January 9), but we’ll take any excuse to see K-Dot rip through that second verse of “Swimming Pools (Drank)” in person. Apparently AXE will be sending 22 normals into space — the second man on the moon announced the news — and to celebrate, the brand enlisted surprise performer Lamar, whose good kid, m.A.A.d city launched him into another stratosphere in 2012.

K-Dot was all smiles during his short set, exuding a laid-back confidence and enjoying himself as he performed a medley of songs. To prove he still remembers life before all the “Best of 2012” lists, the Compton kid started off with Section.80 cut “Hol’ Up.” After that it was all GKMC fare, with “Bitch, Don’t Kill My Vibe,” “Poetic Justice,” “Money Trees” and the grand finale of “Swimming Pools (Drank).” He signed off by telling everyone to have a good time and not to drink and drive. That latter part also applies for space tourists.
