One Direction fans will be screaming until they’re hoarse over this news. Variety originally reported on Thursday (January 10) that filmmaker Morgan Spurlock (director of Super Size Me) provided some insight on the upcoming 3D 1D movie during a Q&A at the CES Variety Entertainment Summit. During the session, Spurlock revealed he’d begin shooting the film this weekend in Tokyo, Japan. The 3D movie will be a combination of concert film and documentary, highlighting the astronomical success of the UK boy band. Choosing to decode the success of a pop group like One Direction seems like an interesting task, but for someone who single-handedly aired out the fast food industry, Morgan’s up for the challenge. At the summit, Spurlock posed the question, “These guys have gotten so huge in such a short amount of time. Why? What makes them more special than any other people?” We’re pretty sure he could’ve just enlisted a few Directioners to get the answer, but that wouldn’t make for very exciting 3D fare. The film is set to arrive Labor Day weekend this year.
