Justin Timberlake‘s comeback track “Suit & Tie” is storming to the top of the singles charts. Despite the mixed reactions and incredibly condensed promotion window, this was bound to happen after such a long hiatus, not to mention the fact that Jay-Z‘s name is attached to it. The song is #1 on the iTunes singles chart, and Billboard reports it is slated to sell between 330,000 and 350,000 copies this week.
Those figures would make it JT’s best digital sales week, easily eclipsing the “SexyBack” mark of 250,000 in one week in 2006. If the numbers hold, “Suit & Tie” will be just the seventh song in the past year to debut with over 300k downloads. So whether “Suit & Tie” is “underwhelming and boring” or “relaxed and confident,” one thing is certain: it’s a hit.

After such a long wait, it was not inexorably bound to happen. Loook at what happened to nelly Furtado…
I wouldn’t compare the two personally. JT has always been popular, during the Nsync days he was the frontman. Nelly Furtado was never massively big. Successful, yes but Loose was an overnight success that I don’t think many predicted and she was been someone who has changed her sound dramatically over the years, where as JT has always stuck to his guns – and Timbaland.
