Prince will be the latest to receive the Billboard Icon Award. The living legend will be presented with the award at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards on May 19th in Las Vegas. Per Billboard, Prince will also bring an “unforgettable performance” with producer Don Mischer. Last year, Stevie Wonder was honored as the 2012 Billboard Icon and the year prior, Neil Diamond was the 2011 honoree. This year marks the third consecutive year that Billboard will be presenting this award.

This isn’t the first accolade Prince will be lauded with in 2013. On March 7, artists including The Roots and Talib Kweli will honor the purple-prone artist for his musical legacy at an annual show being held at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

Last fall, Prince recently released a new single, “Rock And Roll Love Affair,” while an unreleased track called “Same Page Different Book” leaked online earlier this month. Meanwhile, this week the iconic musician announced a set of six upcoming gigs in his hometown of Minneapolis.

The Billboard Awards are set to be broadcast live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena on ABC.
