Selena Gomez had a lively weekend, didn’t she? On Saturday night, she performed at a UNICEF charity concert in New York City, where she busted out unexpected covers of tracks by Justin Timberlake, Taylor Swift and Britney Spears before going on a violent crime spree. (Just kidding! That’s what happens in Spring Breakers.) But the dance-pop songbird also dropped some details about the new music she’s been working on in the studio — which she says will be a little more intimate than past releases. (Because she broke up with Justin Bieber! Remember?)

“I think for me, it was actually interesting to see that towards the middle of me recording my record, a big turn happened to me and it was incredible to see how I applied that to music because I’ve never done that before and it’s great,” she told MTV News. “I think the older I’m getting the more I’m just kind of like — I’m cool to share my side of the stories as much as I can, so I’m having a lot of fun.”

She also says that a new single will be due in March. “Yes,” she said. “I’m gonna say that because that’s what I’m gonna make sure happens.”

Hit the lights — it’s Selegend’s year.
