Tegan & Sara’s ‘Heartthrob’ Album Premiere: Listen To The New LP

We’re going to avoid gushing too much about Tegan and Sara‘s new album Heartthrob, which just premiered in full via a stream on Rolling Stone, because we’ll be reviewing it in less than a week. Still, it’s worth noting that the LP, the Canadian synth-pop sisters’ first since 2009’s Sainthood, is the first major release of the year that’s an absolute must-listen. The euphoric pop gem “Closer” is a great teaser, sure, but this is a rare album where every song is exceptional; there’s more melodic kick in these songs, with their heartbreaking lyrics, gleaming production and singalong choruses, than any pop LP in awhile, and it’s easily their strongest effort since 2004’s brilliant So Jealous. Listen to it at Rolling Stone and fall in love with them all over again, just as we have.
