Cee Lo Green has a new album on the way! And though there’s no title or release date yet, he has released a cut from the album. “Only You,” featuring newcomer Lauriana Mae, has all the grainy, vintage textures and soulful vocals we’ve come to expect from Cee Lo — but it’s also a more emotionally bare track than we’re used to hearing from him.
Instead of embracing his inner Muppet, Green taps into the hopeless romantic, but as he trades verses with Mae, the breezy song avoids sappiness. Green told Rolling Stone it’s an optimistic song despite the fact that it’s about love lost, and we couldn’t agree more. Listen to it here and head to DirectLyrics so you can sing along.
