Beyonce Admits To Lip-Syncing National Anthem, But First Sings It Live Just To Prove She Can: Watch
Beyonce came for wigs at her Super Bowl press conference in New Orleans today (January 31). Yes, she admitted to lip-syncing the National Anthem at President Obama‘s inauguration earlier this month. But! In a tactical move that’s sure to please the rabid BeyHive and which ranks with anything Queen Cersei has pulled off in Game of Thrones, Queen B opened the presser with a live rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner. Bye, haters!
Queen B’s a cappella, impromptu (to the attendees, at least) rendition was equal parts stunning and surreal (“Would you guys mind standing?” she says into the emptiness). As for why she didn’t sing it live on January 21, Bey said, “I am a perfectionist and one thing about me is I’ve practiced ’til my feet bleed. And I did not have time to practice with the orchestra.” She also assured everyone that she’ll be singing live for the Super Bowl Halftime Show on Sunday. It’s what she “was born to do.”
