‘Downton Abbey’ / One Direction “What Makes You Beautiful” Mashup: Thank God For The Internet
Ah, One Direction and Downton Abbey — two great institutions from across the pond that go together like peanut butter and jelly (or, should we say, bangers and mash). Or at least so thought YouTube user Richard Sandling, aka Buchan39, who painstakingly went about taking snippets of dialog from award-winning PBS series Downton and pairing the English period soap’s spoken words with the instrumental version of 1D’s smash “What Makes You Beautiful.”
The result is at once campy, exhilarating and just what we needed to warm our hearts and get us laughing out loud on this chilly Tuesday. And by the way, god bless Maggie Smith for being able to bust us up with just one bloody word taken out of context: “baby.”
And speaking of Dame Maggie, don’t do yourself a disservice by turning away before this gem ends; she’s got one of her classic zinger’s lying in wait.
