Nearly a year ago, Natalia Kills was holed up in Los Angeles with producers Jeff Bhasker and Emile Haynie to record the follow-up to her 2011 debut Perfectionist. Even then, she was particularly stoked over one song in particular: “Problem,” now the second single off sophomore album Trouble.
While “Problem” chugs along to grimy riffs, Kills seduces as if she’s unleashing her twist to Juicy J‘s “Bandz a Make Her Dance” — especially at its clapping breakdown and with lines like, “I got your name hanging from my chain, don’t you want to claim my body like a vandal?”
“Problem” is available at iTunes on Tuesday, March 12.
